Faculty Profile
Christina Jacobsen, MD, PhD
Assistant Professor of Pediatrics
Attending Physician
Genetic disorders of bone, skeletal dysplasias and pediatric osteoporosis
The Jacobsen Lab is focused on translational research dedicated to understanding the causes behind pediatric bone disorders. Current therapies for pediatric bone disease, including osteoporosis and other disorders of bone fragility are limited. There is also no way to identify which patients at risk for osteoporosis will go on to develop fractures. Our lab uses rare genetic disorders as a model to better understand the process of bone growth and development with a goal of identifying new therapies to treat children with all types of skeletal disease.
Dr. Jacobsen is the Director of the Bone Health Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. She oversees and participates in specialty clinics for children with known or suspected disorders of bone, including bone fragility, disorders of bone metabolism including rickets, phosphorus and calcium regulation as well as all skeletal dysplasias. We work closely with colleagues in Orthopedic surgery, Radiology and other specialties to ensure that all patients receive the care they need for their diagnosis.
Dr. Jacobsen sees patients in clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital as well as Boston Children’s Hospital at Waltham.
