Developmental brain disorders
The goals of the Mochida Laboratory are to 1] understand the molecular basis of genetic disorders of human brain development; 2] understand neuropathogenesis of congenital infections, particularly Zika virus; and 3] develop novel treatment strategies for genetic and non-genetic developmental brain disorders. The Mochida Laboratory combines human subject research with cellular and animal models in order to achieve these goals.
Dr. Mochida has extensive experience in clinical care of individuals with a wide range of developmental brain disorders, with a unique expertise in microcephaly syndromes and disorders of cerebellar development. He employs an individualized, multi-disciplinary, and holistic approach to care for each patient and family.
Dr. Mochida is a member of the multi-disciplinary team for the Brain Development and Genetics (BrDG) Program and sees patients at Boston Children’s Hospital.
