Role of genes in behavior and application to Personalized Medicine

Jonathan Picker is interested in the interface between Genetics, Psychiatry and Development. By using genetics to drive insight into the biological processes involved in neurobehavioral disorders such as fragile X, Dr Picker seeks to improve care. Inter-related to this is his ongoing development of the pharmacogenomics service, which provides an individualized approach to drug therapy. By understanding each persons unique profile it has become possible to start personalizing care to an individual’s needs and sensitivities and the service seeks to continue improving our capabilities and to bring this to an ever larger number of patients in need.

Dr Picker Clinically serves as the Director of the Pharmacogenomics service and Fragile-X Program. He sees patients in clinic at Boston Children’s Hospital.
